How to Calibrate an Oxyguard D.O. Meter

How to Calibrate an Oxyguard D.O. Meter:

Calibrating an OxyGuard Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Meter (such as the Handy Polaris series) is a straightforward process that is almost always done in fresh, open air to ensure 100% saturation. Because the sensor aligns itself to the environment's barometric pressure, it should be done understable temperature conditions.
Step-by-Step Calibration Process:
  1. Prepare the Probe: Remove the probe's protective cover. Ensure the membrane is intact, clean, and has a fresh layer of electrolyte if it was recently serviced. Dry the outside of the sensor gently if it is wet.
  2. Equilibrate: Hang the probe in the open air (away from your breath or direct heat sources) and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. This allows the temperature of the probe and the air to equalize.
  3. Power On: Turn your OxyGuard meter on by pressing the ON/OFF button for about 3 seconds.
  4. Access the Menu: Press the OK button to bring up the main menu.
  5. Select Calibrate: Use the arrow keys to scroll to "Calibrate" and press OK.
  6. Accept Calibration: The meter will check if the conditions are stable. Once it verifies stability, press OK again to confirm and accept the calibration.
