Why Clean Your pH or ORP Electrode
Why Clean Your pH or ORP Electrode?
Electrode contamination is a common cause of inaccurate pH and ORP measurements. Deposits or residues on the sensing surface can affect the electrode's response, while contamination around the reference junction can interfere with stable measurements and calibration.
Regular cleaning with an appropriate electrode cleaning solution helps maintain the electrode in good operating condition. Hanna specifically recommends routine cleaning to eliminate impurities and residues and to help prevent the reference junction from becoming clogged.
How to Use HI7061
For routine cleaning, immerse the electrode in HI7061 General Purpose Cleaning Solution for approximately 15–20 minutes. After cleaning, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled or deionized water before returning it to service.
The HI7061M is intended for cleaning, not electrode storage. For long-term electrode storage, use an appropriate electrode storage solution such as Hanna HI70300L.
