The S52 Sedgewick-Rafter Counting Cell is a precision glass counting chamber designed for the quantitative examination of plankton, algae, protozoa, zooplankton, and other suspended particles in water samples. Unlike economical plastic counting cells, the S52 is manufactured from optical glass with a vacuum-deposited chromium counting grid, providing superior optical clarity, excellent wear resistance, and compatibility with brightfield and phase-contrast microscopy. The chamber has a calibrated volume of 1 mL, making it a standard tool for water quality laboratories, limnology, aquaculture, and environmental monitoring.
Glass Sedgewick Rafter Chamber: The cell holds 100 cubic millimetres of liquid 1 millimetre deep over an area of 50 x 20 millimetres.
S52: The glass base is divided into 1 millimetre squares. A cover glass traps liquid to the correct depth. By observing the liquid through a low magnification microscope objects contained in each cubic millimeter can be identified and counted. Includes cover glass.
