The Wildco 150-A55 Hester-Dendy Round EPA Substrate Sampler is a pack of 10 artificial substrate samplersdesigned for aquatic macroinvertebrate sampling, biological monitoring and environmental assessment. Hester-Dendy samplers provide standardized artificial surfaces that are colonized by aquatic organisms during deployment, allowing researchers to collect and analyse macroinvertebrate communities under controlled sampling conditions. They can be used in rivers, streams, lakes, tidal flats and other aquatic environments.
Each round Hester-Dendy sampler consists of 14 round tempered hardboard plates, approximately 7.5 cm (3 in.) in diameter, separated by 24 spacers on a 0.63 cm (1/4 in.) diameter eyebolt. The variable spacing provides surfaces and protected spaces for colonization by immature aquatic insects and other aquatic organisms. The assembled sampler is approximately 14 cm long and 7.5 cm in diameter, with an exposed surface area of approximately 1,300 cm².
The 150-A55 pack of 10 is particularly useful for environmental monitoring programs requiring replicate samplers or sampling at multiple locations.
