The MariSource® Egg Picker is a lightweight hatchery tool designed for the careful removal of dead (white) fish eggs from incubator trays with minimal disturbance to healthy eggs. Manufactured from durable, non-toxic plastic, it replaces traditional hand-carved wooden egg pickers by providing improved hygiene, adjustable tip spacing, and greater durability. It is widely used in salmon and trout hatcheries during the eyed-egg stage to improve hatch success by removing dead eggs that can promote fungal growth.
The length of the tip can be easily shortened if desired. Overall length of the unit is 12 5/8" (32 cm). The egg picker is constructed of lightweight plastic, impervious to chemicals and solvents. It will not retain bacteria and is easily disinfected, making it sanitary for repeated use. The lightweight plastic material will not sink, a benefit in working around water. Green plastic.
