The S50 Sedgewick-Rafter Counting Chamber is an economical plastic counting cell designed for the quantitative examination of plankton, algae, protozoa, zooplankton, and other suspended particles in water samples. The chamber provides a precisely defined 1 mL sample volume and includes a glass cover slip, making it ideal for educational laboratories, routine water analysis, culture inspections, and applications where a disposable or limited-use counting chamber is preferred.
The cell holds 100 cubic millimetres of liquid 1 millimetre deep over an area of 50 x 20 millimeters. The plastic base is divided into 1 millimetre squares. A cover glass traps liquid to the correct depth. By observing the liquid through a low magnification microscope objects contained in each cubic millimeter can be identified and counted.
