The VEE GEE Scientific 43036 STX-3 Handheld Salinity Refractometer is a portable optical instrument designed for measuring seawater salinity and specific gravity. It provides a salinity range of 0–100‰ (ppt) and a specific-gravity range of 1.000–1.070, making it particularly useful for aquariums, aquaculture, fish hatcheries, marine research and environmental water-quality monitoring. The STX-3 uses a high-quality optical glass prism and a large, high-contrast analogue scale for quick readings. Its automatic temperature compensation (ATC) operates from 10 to 30°C, with readings compensated to 20°C.
