The Hanna Instruments HI98501 Checktemp® is a compact digital thermometer designed for accurate temperature measurement in liquids and semi-solid materials. It features a sharp AISI 316 stainless steel penetration probe and a large digital display that eliminates parallax errors associated with analogue thermometers. The instrument is suitable for food-safety inspections, laboratories, environmental work and general temperature measurements.

The HI98501 incorporates Hanna's CAL Check™ function, which automatically verifies the instrument's calibration status when it is switched on. The display reports the result, helping users confirm that the thermometer is operating within specification before taking measurements.

Calibration Check Feature
One thing you could say about glass thermometers is that they give a sense of false certainty about the temperature because one can see the physical expansion of the liquid inside the glass! Electronic thermometers have at times been likened to a black box. One is never sure if the display is correct. Well, we′ve solved this problem too. Checktemp has the world′s first cal-check feature. There is a switch under the battery cover which sends a 0.0°C ±0.3°C (32.0°F ±0.5°F) signal to the display. This way you are always sure about the accuracy of your readings and if necessary can manually compensate for any deviation in calibration.
