The HOBO MX2501 pH and Temperature Data Logger is a compact, rugged data logger designed for long-term monitoring of pH and temperature in aquatic environments. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) provides convenient wireless communication with a mobile device or Windows computer, allowing users to configure the logger, perform guided pH calibration and download recorded data using the HOBOconnect app.
The MX2501 is designed for deployment in streams, rivers, lakes, estuaries and oceans, with a rugged PVC housing suitable for both freshwater and saltwater applications. The integrated potentiometric pH electrode has a plastic body, gel electrolyte and double-junction design, while an anti-biofouling copper guard helps protect the sensor during extended deployments. The pH electrode, battery and copper guard are user-replaceable.
The pH sensor measures from 2.00 to 12.00 pH with a resolution of 0.01 pH and accuracy of ±0.10 pH units within ±10°C of the temperature at calibration. The temperature sensor measures from -2 to 50°C, with ±0.2°C accuracy. Logging intervals can be programmed from 1 second to 18 hours, with both fixed-interval and burst logging modes available.
With 152 KB of memory, the MX2501 can store up to 43,300 measurements. The logger is waterproof to 40 m (131 ft)and features an IP68-rated enclosure. A water-detection system can help extend battery life by allowing Bluetooth to remain off while the logger is submerged. Depending on configuration and logging conditions, the user-replaceable AA battery provides approximately one to three years of typical operation.
