The black plastic grid panel shown in the image is a type of support grating or modular isolation board commonly used in aquaculture and fish hatcheries. In a hatchery environment, these panels serve several critical functions:
- Tank Dividers: These panels are frequently used to create separate compartments within a single tank or raceway. This helps isolate aggressive fish, separate different species, or keep juvenile fry safe from larger fish.
- Bottom Filter Trays: They often act as a false bottom or "undergravel" filter support. By placing them at the bottom of a tank, they support filter media while allowing water to circulate freely underneath, preventing "dead zones" where waste can accumulate.
