The Wildco 3-196-B12 Standard Ekman Bottom Grab Kit is a complete benthic sampling system designed for collecting undisturbed sediment samples from soft-bottom lakes, ponds, reservoirs, wetlands, and slow-moving rivers. Constructed from corrosion-resistant 316 and 18-8 stainless steel, the Ekman grab features 6 × 6 × 6 inch (15 × 15 × 15 cm) opposing jaws that close rapidly when activated by the included messenger, producing reliable sediment samples for biological, chemical, and physical analysis. It is ideal for sampling mud, silt, marl, organic ooze, and other fine sediments free of rocks, coarse sand, or heavy vegetation.
The standard Ekman is the most versatile model in the Wildco Ekman range due to its portability and ease of operation. The kit includes the Ekman Bottom Grab, SBK2 stainless steel messenger, 62-C15 (100 ft) sampling line, and a protective carrying case, providing everything required for field sampling. The centre-pivot jaw design minimizes bottom disturbance while overlapping scoops reduce sample washout during retrieval, making the sampler well suited for benthic macroinvertebrate studies, limnology, fisheries assessments, and environmental monitoring.
