The 623-2010 Fieldmaster® Secchi Disk Kit is an economical, student-friendly limnological Secchi disk designed to measure water transparency, turbidity and light penetration in lakes, ponds, reservoirs and slow-moving rivers. Built to the accepted industry standard, the 200 mm (7-7/8 in.) diameter disk features four quadrants—two black and two white—to provide consistent, repeatable water clarity measurements that can be compared between sampling locations and over time.
Constructed from heavy-duty ABS plastic, the kit includes a 20 m braided polyester line wound on a floating plastic winder, making it easy to deploy and retrieve during fieldwork. The attached stainless steel eye bolt and weight keep the disk stable in the water column for accurate readings. The 623-2010 is widely used in environmental education, fisheries, limnology, aquaculture and water quality monitoring, providing a simple and reliable method for assessing suspended solids and estimating the depth of the photic (light-penetration) zone.
